My husband and I recently spent a week at the Count House. We came for our 14-year Wedding Anniversary, and we really needed to relax, unwind, and commune with nature. We were awed by the breathtaking views and the peaceful, serene atmosphere surrounding us. The history of the area is interesting, and the nearby village of Calstock is vibrant and community-oriented. There are many walks in the area and Plymouth is just a train ride away. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and regretted not having booked a longer stay. We plan to come back again next year. All our thanks go to Nick who made is possible to enjoy such a wonderful place.

What a hidden gem! We stayed for the weekend, to get away and celebrate my wife's birthday. We were not disappointed (other than all the rain - and we can't hold Nick responsible for that!!) The cottage (we were in The Smithy) has everything that you could need for a few day's stay. The walk down to Calstock is short enough not to be a chore. The local area is charming, as only this part of the world can be. The amount of wildlife (mostly heard rather than seen) is impressive - we were woken in the pre-dawn on two mornings with owls terwit-to-wooing one another!
Definitely worth a return visit if we can manage it.

The Smithy and its surroundings has worked its magic - healing the soul and restoring our equilibrium. The ever changing view with rolling mist, light rain & hail was a beautiful sight - tucked up warm and embraced by the rejuvenating walls of our cottage. We stayed at the Smithy in April 2019 and it far exceeded our already high expectations. Communication with Greg in the lead up to the stay was helpful and informative and Nick was on hand should we need anything but he wasn't intrusive and he leaves guests to it. It really is a wonderful getaway, it was so romantic something must of got to my boy friend because he proposed!! We look forward to making a return visit as soon as we can. Thank you so much.
