Railway Station - why not visit by train & enjoy a car-free holiday?

The Tamar Valley branch line station of Calstock is a 20 minute walk (1 mile/1.6km) from the cottage so it's possible to visit by train (shortest journey time from London Paddington, including 1 change at Plymouth, is approximately 4 hours) - we would be happy to collect you from the railway station and assist with luggage - please ask. Once at the mine there is plenty to do locally without needing a car and there are regular bus services to the market towns of Tavistock and Callington each having supermarkets. If arriving by train you can order your food online - deliveries are available from Waitrose and Tesco. The nearest convenience store is at Pearces Garage, Drakewalls, which is 2.2 miles/3.5 km from the mine and next to Gunnislake railway station.
