Things to note

Accessibility: Whilst both cottages are single story and level throughout there is a step at the front door and the paths and drive have unmade stone surfaces. Should you be at all concerned about the suitability for your needs please contact us to check.

Gardens & privacy: The Count House and The Smithy are about 15m apart and the owner’s house 20m further and all are well screened from each other. There's a large shared garden in front of The Smithy and The Count House has its own private garden area with some evergreen vegetation offering a degree of seclusion. Privacy will be respected by all guests and by the owners however Jess, the black labrador, may pop over to say hello. Throwing balls for her is entirely optional.

Vehicular access: The cottages are approached down a bridlepath, an unmade track but well maintained and suitable for most cars. In nearly 20 years we’ve only had a couple of guests who’ve chosen not to drive down.

Parking: You can drive close to the front door to load and unload. Count House parking is adjacent to the cottage and there's a space for The Smithy about 50m away with additional parking for both cottages just off the road at the top of the bridlepath (a few hundred metres away from the cottage).

Phone & WiFi: Mobile reception is patchy - depending on your provider. It's unlikely that you'll receive a signal inside the cottage. Both cottages have free WiFi and a dedicated landline that is operated on an honesty basis.

Miscellaneous: Smoking and vaping are not permitted in the cottage and no parties or events are are to be held without the permission of the owner.

Shops: Unfortunately our village shop has closed. The nearest now is a couple of miles away at Drakewalls - on the main road in and out of Calstock. There are several supermarkets located in both Callington and Tavistock - about 6 miles away. Details in the file which can be found in the cottage.

Post Office: Calstock has a part-time Post Office (Tuesday afternoon and Thursday morning). The nearest full-time Post Office is a few miles away in Gunnislake.
