Getting Here

Only 4 hours by car from central London & 2 hours from Bristol

Okel Tor Mine is situated east of the village of Calstock on the River Tamar which is the county boundary between Devon & Cornwall. It's approximately a 4 hour drive (220 miles/355km) from central London, about 2 hours (125 miles/200km) from Bristol, 1 hour (46 miles/73km) from Exeter and 1 hour (54 miles/87km) from Truro.

International Airport & Ferry Terminal

Exeter International Airport is approximately 1 hour (53 miles/85km) from Okel Tor and Plymouth Ferry Terminal about 45 minute's drive (19 miles/31km). There is car hire available at both Exeter and Plymouth.

Railway Station - why not visit by train & enjoy a car-free holiday?

The Tamar Valley branch line station of Calstock is a 20 minute walk (1 mile/1.6km) from the cottage so it's possible to visit by train (shortest journey time from London Paddington, including 1 change at Plymouth, is approximately 4 hours) - we would be happy to collect you from the railway station and assist with luggage - please ask. Once at the mine there is plenty to do locally without needing a car and there are regular bus services to the market towns of Tavistock and Callington each having supermarkets. If arriving by train you can order your food online - deliveries are available from Waitrose and Tesco. The nearest convenience store is at Pearces Garage, Drakewalls, which is 2.2 miles/3.5 km from the mine and next to Gunnislake railway station.
